A successful full-time VO artist for 30 years (with an early background in theatre, film, and broadcasting) Kim Handysides also offers private custom coaching for voice acting in commercial, narration, eLearning, and explainer voiceover genres. After directing several documentary series, commercials, corporate videos, eLearning projects, and more, she began coaching voice over privately. She particularly loves being able to help people improve through performance lessons and practical exercises she gives to incorporate into their craft.

Working with people new to the business and those who want to learn new skills, Kim identifies and isolates areas to improve upon quickly and arms the people who work with her with an arsenal of tools. Kim also comes from a long line of teachers and has taught several subjects including drama and voice over for children and adults alike. A great facility for performance., she also helps identify niches for students to polish to enter specific genres of the biz. With this in mind, she also shares knowledge for custom marketing strategies.

As Kim is very busy with her own VO work, she is selective about the time she sets aside for coaching. Generally, she coaches private sessions Monday to Friday 4-5 p.m. EST with occasional excursions outside this time frame to accommodate different time zones/schedules. Private one-on-one sessions are $175 US per hour. If you are interested in contacting Kim and seeing if you are a good fit, please email her, and she will schedule a discussion. Sessions are payable online through PayPal or options on her Contacts page. Kim’s controller will send you an invoice, so you have that for your records.

How Kim’s Private Custom Coaching Sessions Work:

She sends scripts a few minutes before your session and opens a google doc for you to track both points learned in the lessons and homework assigned between sessions. She strongly encourages a solid commitment to doing the homework. The people she’s coached tend to get the best results if they commit to at least 30 mins a day for homework between sessions and if sessions are spread out every 10 days to 2 weeks - this gives you time to solidify improvement.

Often private coaching is tied to demo-preparation. After being hired as a demo director for over 30 voice over demos, Kim has recently begun producing them as well. Working with an excellent writer and top-quality sound engineer, Kim also coaches performance to help voice over artists become demo-ready.
